Fall Fashion 2017
Wow, I am a bit behind in blogging. Last Monday was a crazy and exciting day as I spent the majority of the day at the hospital waiting on our new niece to arrive. So.. I have been a little bit behind since then…which is all good because it is not everyday that you welcome a new baby to the family.
This week I wanted to talk about my favorite Fall Fashion 2017 finds. I love nice clothing, but I am also a bargain shopper. I love everything from Nordstrom to Forever 21. When shopping, I really try to pay attention to quality. There are certain stores that I will only buy certain things from. I usually spend more on jeans and staple items that I know I will wear over and over again.
Fall Shoes and Boots
First off, I will talk about the GREAT shoes I have found so far this season. I have been searching for a classic pointed toe black leather boot. I have some point toe suede boots that are wedges…which I have certainly gotten my wear out of. However, I wanted a leather boot with a small heel. I found plenty of these particular boots. However, I did not like the prices. I really do not like paying over $100-$150 for a pair of shoes. So, after weeks of looking, I finally found what I’ve been searching for at a reasonable price. The Logan Leather Chelsea Boots by Kendall and Kylie are soo cute. I found them on sale for $99 at Saks off 5th. They were regular $190 so I feel as though I got a major bargain.
Adidas Gazelle in Black, White, and Gold- What can I say? I love them. I love a good, casual sneaker that is dressier than a workout kind of tennis shoe but still casual and comfortable. That is exactly where these are. I mean, you can pair these with leggings or jeans and can make them super casual with a t-shirt or dress up just a little with a v-neck t-shirt and cardigan or jacket. Many stores have the Adidas Gazelle but they are currently on sale at Zappos for under $70. Also, Zappos has all sizes available. They run large, so I recommend buying from somewhere that has free shipping and returns in case you need to exchange them.
These next shoes I feel like were a MAJOR steal. I’ve been looking for shoes like this and would not “bite the bullet” as they say because the ones I wanted were $100 plus. This was one of those cases where I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend $100 on this particular pair of shoes. Anyway, I just happened to look at Target one night and wa-la…I found the shoes I had been looking for for $35. I found the DV Roselyn Suede High Top Sneakers that are almost identical to the more expensive ones that I had been looking at. Apparently, Dolce Vita (one of my favorite shoe brands) did a line of shoes for Target. They are called DV. Needless to say, I bought them almost immediately and I LOVE them. I was not sure what the quality would be like…but y’all…they are seriously soft and super comfy.
Lastly, I am loving the slip in mules. But, as much as I love them I was also super picky about the ones I wanted to buy. I have seen lots of people wearing some that just look like a pair of shoes my mom probably has in a stack to throw out. So, during my search I found the Vince Camuto Sona Mule at Nordstrom and loved them. I have already had lots of compliments on them. I have put them with several different outfits so far including jeans and black pants. They are easily dressed up and dressed down. Also, the color is great.
Other than the Adidas Gazelle – I am true size 6. A size six always works for and that is what I always order unless there are lots of reviews stating to go up or down.
Fall Shirts and Sweaters
As I mentioned, I love good staple pieces for my closet including solid color v-neck shirts and just simple shirts that will pretty much go with anything. I love Madewell’s Cotton V-Neck Tees. You really cannot go wrong with having at least white, grey, and black in your closet of these type shirts. I wear mine over and over again. I dress them up and I dress them down. They always work with something and are so comfortable.
I found this Linen Flutter Sleeve T-shirt on sale at JCrew for under $20 and I LOVE IT. It looks super cute with high waist jeans and black pants. It’s almost like a thin sweater type material. The fit is a little short, which is why I like it with high waist pants as it just tucks right now. Also, I got an XXS because the reviews said that it ran large. Anyway…the XXS is perfect for me.
Next, I love sweaters and sweatshirts and thermals. The same day I found the deal on the t-shirt at JCrew, I also found a great deal on the Pom Pom Sweatshirt. It is super cozy and cute and again will look great with jeans or leggings.
Urban Outfitters often has cute sweaters and thermals. I bought the Out from Under Jojo Oversized Thermal Button Front Top in Beige and it is sooo soft and comfy. I’ve already worn it with jeans and leggings and have gotten a ton of compliments. This thermal comes in a large variety of colors and I’ve considered buying several more colors because I love it. It does fit bit because it is an “oversized” shirt. I have an X-Small and it fits perfectly.
Fall Denim and Pants
I love a good pair of denim as well a good pair of black pants and leggings. It is often hard for me to find denim that isn’t too long. Paige and Citizens of Humanity of some of my favorite fitting jeans. However, I do not live near a Saks 5th or Nordstrom (which will hem jeans for you), therefore, it is hard for me to find someone to hem them like I want. My closet is full of designer jeans in all styles.
However, when I started looking this year, I wanted to find denim in “petite” so that I would not have to worry with hemming. That is when I discovered the Madewell Jeans. I love their Petite 10″ High Rise Skinny Jeans in Danny Wash. You can choose different options on lengths which is perfect for someone like me who is short…or someone who needs longer. I love Madewell tops, pants, and bras…but for some reason I had never paid attention to their denim. Their prices range from $100 ish to $150 ish…which I do not mind paying for denim. Oh, and its cheaper than Paige and Citizens of Humanity.
I also have some Free People black and frayed hem jeans that I love and that were the perfect length when I bought them. As for black pants and leggings…the Leith Pleat Front Trousers from Nordstrom are amazing. I have an XS and they fit perfectly. I pretty much wear these every Sunday to church with a different top. They are so comfy. As for leggings, I found the Stevie Ponte Knit Pants from Old Navy that are stretchy and comfy but thicker than your normal leggings. These come in petite which is good for those of us that are short.
In jeans, I am a 25 across the board and an XS if they come in that type of sizing.
I am a summer girl and I love summer clothing. I do not mind fall and winter clothing, but I really do not like wearing a coat or jacket. Anything that is super heavy is not for me…although if its super cold I am forced to wear anyway. I also do not like scarves around my neck…again…sometimes I am forced. Thankfully, here is MS the winters are pretty mild and I do not have to bundle up too much.
