I am obsessed with Turks and Caicos and specifically Grace Bay Beach. I’m guessing that is not a secret since I started a blog centered around this magical place. I mean, the beaches of Grace Bay are like those pictures you see on the internet and you think..that is soo photoshopped. Water does not look like that unless you are in like Bora Bora or something.
Believe me; I had those same doubts when we booked our first trip to Turks and Caicos. My husband and I have always travelled to the Caribbean and seen some pretty awesome beaches. However, most of those beaches looked way better in the pictures on the internet than in real life.
So, we when booked our trip to Providenciales, we figured the same thing. The beaches would be beautiful but not over the top. I remember flying into Turks for the first time and we were like kids at Disney World looking as we got ready to land in Provo. The water was like what you would see in a magazine but it was real – we were looking at it.
When we arrived, we put our luggage in the room, put swimsuits on, and nearly ran to the beach. I still remember the first moment of stepping off of the boardwalk and seeing that water – ohh that water..it was crystal clear. It looked like a turquoise sheet of glass. It was beyond AHH-mazing. That particular moment is the moment that hooked us. We have been obsessed ever since.
Trip Advisor’s 2nd Best Beach in the World
I chose to talk about Grace Bay in my post today because, well, it was voted 2017’s #2 best beach in the world by TripAdvisor. That is a huge deal. I mean, think of all the beaches in the world and THIS one, Grace Bay is #2. Of course we think it should be number one, but we will take number 2. Millions of people around the world voted on this and we pretty much all agree that Grace Bay is spectacular.
Obviously I do not need clarification that Grace Bay is the best, but getting this award does make me happy because I know other people, lots of other people, feel the same way as my husband and I do.
It is always crazy to me to hear people talk about this place. I’ve been my fair share of places, but to hear others say the same things I am thinking just reassures why I love this place so much. Once while in Turks I met someone who had been to Bora Bora and they actually compared Turks to Bora Bora. Bora Bora is on my bucket list – I mean, what beach lover doesn’t want to visit Bora Bora. However, it is farther down since I have been going to Turks and Caicos.
Getting to Turks and Caicos
Traveling to Turks and Caicos is pretty easy for most anyone. I have never heard anyone complain about the travel time there. We live in Mississippi and it is literally a total of like 6 hours travel time for us. It has always been so easy and so fast. It is great being able to start traveling in the early morning and be at your destination by noon-ish. Obviously, the flight times vary depending on where you live but they are all pretty simple. With that being said, I would spend an entire day getting Provo if that is what it took.
Staying In Grace Bay
There are so many options for hotels in Grace Bay. My post last week talked about affordable places to stay in Turks and Caicos. But, if you are looking for complete luxury, you can definitely find it. In Turks and Caicos and specifically Grace Bay you can find everything from top notch five star resorts to super low end casual hotels or motels rather.
We usually stay somewhere in between. I am like most people; I cannot afford to stay in high end places everywhere I travel. I would rather travel more often vs less often. So, by staying in more affordable resorts we are able to go more frequently.
Dining In Grace Bay
The restaurant options in Grace Bay are wonderful. You can literally find anything you could want. Lots of times you visit beach towns and the only thing you have to eat is seafood. That is not the case here. If you want seafood, sure it is available and it is soo good and fresh. But, if you want a good burger, you can get that too. Pizza? Absolutely.
Best Beaches in the World
Grace Bay is my #1 even though it was voted #2. But, like I said, we will take #2 since that is a huge honor for Turks and Caicos to be the home of the 2nd best beach in the world according to millions. I wanted to write this post today to help you make the decision to visit this little place. Many of you are wanting to book a vacation right now but cannot make your mind up on where to go. Go to Turks and Caicos and stay on Grace Bay. I promise it will exceed your expectations.
Grace Bay has great beaches but there are also great hotels, activities, and places to eat in this area. It is a win-win.
I have one thing to warn you about, however, you will be hooked forever. You will get there and never want to leave.
Grace Bay will become “your place” just like it is “our place.”
